Customized trips are offered for women’s groups and co-ed groups.

If you would like to share a memorable adventure or a relaxing getaway with a group of 5 or more friends, relatives, or co-workers, contact Women’s Time Out. If your plans do not fit with one of our scheduled trips or retreats we will work with you to design an event for your particular group.

You gather the people and we discuss possible dates (email Marcia at riverlink@earthlink.net). Once we agree upon time and place I will plan and guide a trip or retreat that meets your needs. Particular themes that I have worked with, along with just having fun and canoeing, include earth spirituality, attuning to nature, nature writing and awakening the soul.

Locations for canoe trips and retreats include the Skokie Lagoons (in Northfield, IL), the Wisconsin River (near Spring Green, WI), the Fox River (near Wedren, IL) and nearby retreat house (in Plano, IL).

For a 1-day fun event bring your friends to the Skokie Lagoons. Be surprised by the water trails and the heron and duck populations so close to civilization. Weekdays are best in the spring and early summer. Learn to paddle or just enjoy being on the water.

For a 3 day or longer canoe trip with tenting I recommend the beautiful lower Wisconsin River with a variety of scenic sand bars for camping along the way.

For a 2 or 3 day canoe trip staying in a retreat house, I recommend the scenic canoe trail section of the Fox River
